Failed Sound Insulation

Test and Solutions.

Imagine the worst possible scenario - your development has failed a sound test under Approved Document E of the Building Regulations. You are being assailed on all side by the Building Control Officer, who will not sign off the development,  your management, who want the sale completed and the cash in the bank, and of course the purchaser who wants to move in.

What do you do now?  Many site managers are tempted to try to resolve the issue by themselves.  This is usually doomed to failure as acoustics and sound insulation generally do not respond to the common sense approach.

I have spent my career developing diagnostic techniques to enable me to not only correctly identify the cause of the failure but to design the most cost effective remedial treatments that are also comparatively easy to build and not heavy on timescale.

Working as a Robust Details Inspector I have developed a range of diagnostic techniques, of a mostly non-invasive type, which allow the accurate diagnosis of acoustic defects.  These techniques have been refined by use in the field to provide an array of tools that can frequently locate problems to within an inch or two.
